Printing a City

After a long holiday break the kids came back to art class on Tuesday ready to work. We picked up on the printmaking project that we began before Christmas.

We began by learning how to use foam rollers to carefully add either white or black ink to the printmaking block the kids made last class. After the blocks were coated with paint the kids carefully pressed paper onto their blocks. If using white ink, they chose one of the darker paper options. If using black ink, they used one of the lighter options. With the pressure of their fingers, the paint is transferred to the paper, making beautiful, interesting and unique prints!

The kids made many prints. I asked them to make at least 3 or 4. Some made many more. Below you will find some examples of the best prints. Enjoy!

Next week we will combine the prints into a larger final piece!
